Justice for All Conference: The ICC at 10 years

FIIN co-director Louise Chappell has organised (with colleagues at UNSW) a major conference marking the 10th anniversary of the International Criminal Court.  Speakers included senior ICC officials including the incoming Chief Prosecutor Fatou Bensoud (pictured), as well as a number of renowned academic, government and civil society experts on the Court. The two key objectives of the Conference were to examine the role and success of the ICC in achieving gender justice, and to analyse the participation of the Asia Pacific region in the ICC regime.  Against the backdrop of the two main themes of gender justice and the Asia Pacific, the Conference  considered the operation of the Rome Statute of the ICC at three distinct levels: within the Court itself, as between states parties, and between the ICC and civil society. The conference on 14-15 February was preceded by a public lecture given by the global feminist activist and playwright Eve Ensler.
